Point-to-point networks are mainly used for two locations that need to securely send sensitive or confidential data between each location. High performance provides low latency over the network. Data does not flow over the public Internet, which is where many security breaches can occur.
Because businesses purchase the physical line between the two locations, the suppliers charge per mileage based on the two locations. Most carriers will be able to provide a point-to-point network, and many can do it well depending on your geographic location(s). However, many carriers that resell services will not provide this type of transport, given they do not own their own network.
