5 Things to Know About Hybrid IT

Hybrid IT encompasses various IT environments, each with its own advantages and disadvantages, technical requirements and management issues. There’s a lot that goes into developing a strategy that brings them all together. With all that CIOs are already charged with doing, who has time for what will likely be an immense effort? In this eBook, ATC partner, Peak 10, provides five considerations to keep in mind before jumping into strategy-development mode. We can’t promise that they will make developing a hybrid IT strategy easier, but they will provide you with some insights that can diminish some of the complexity and unknowns.

Here’s a sneak peek:

  1. YOUR IT ENVIRONMENT MAY ALREADY BE HYBRID – Unless all your workloads run in a single environment — your on-premise data center, an on-premise private cloud, a third party data center, a third-party private cloud (managed or dedicated) or a single public cloud service — you are already using hybrid IT.
  2. YOU CAN TAKE IT OUT OF THE SHADOWS – There are many benefits to employing a hybrid IT strategy. Alleviating — or at least minimizing — shadow IT is one of them. We live in a “want-it-now-get-it-now” world. It’s not surprising that employees in companies of all sizes want the latest and
greatest tools and software to enhance their efficiency and productivity.
  3. PUT YOUR WORKLOADS WHERE THEY BELONG – One of the key benefits of hybrid IT is that you can move your workloads to where they perform best. They don’t get there on their own, however.
  4. YOU CAN EASE YOUR WAY INTO HYBRID IT – Hybrid IT isn’t an all-or-nothing strategy. Moving to a hybrid IT approach simply means you are going to employ some kind of off-premise IT environment in addition to your on-site data center and/or private cloud. You don’t have to move everything.
  5. YOU DON’T HAVE TO GO IT ALONE – Developing and implementing a hybrid IT strategy may seem daunting, but you don’t have to do it on your own. Contact ATC.
