Advanced Technology Consulting Specifies New System to Bring All Dealerships and Locations onto a Single VoIP Platform

Mason, OH, November 5, 2013 – Jeff Wyler Automotive Family is nearing the completion of a company-wide VoIP business phone system rollout. All 41 automotive franchises spread across 14 locations will soon be on one platform – a ShoreTel on-premise VoIP system.

With aging phone systems and disparate platforms throughout the dealerships, including corporate office locations, Wyler engaged Advanced Technology Consulting (ATC), Mason, OH, to conduct an analysis and determine the best, most cohesive phone system to support all facets of the business. All in all, this constituted approximately 715 handsets.

Wyler’s new system is very flexible and scalable. It integrates with mobile while providing inter-office connectivity across the entire group of dealerships. Most importantly, Wyler’s customers are also experiencing benefits, including much more efficient call routing and optimized one-call resolutions for an improved customer experience.

Initially, ATC determined requirements and identified solution matches for Wyler. Wyler’s old systems were primarily digital with a handful of IP phones. Wyler had viable options for a new system, which included hosted VoIP, premise-based VoIP, and a hybrid system. Five different VoIP providers were selected to submit quotes. One of the five providers was ShoreTel, which offered a robust premise-based system with a purpose-built IP architecture that makes it perform like a single, unified platform. Wyler chose the ShoreTel solution.

“ATC took a tremendous load off of us. It was a huge time savings,” said Brian Hoffman, Jeff Wyler Director of IT. “We’re in the business of selling cars. With ATC acting as a single point of contact, conducting the upfront legwork, and providing budgetary projections, we were able to make informed decisions regarding features and functionalities, while taking into account total cost of ownership.”

ATC also piloted a thorough review of the network services, including local, long distance and data/internet, for each of the 14 locations. Competitive quotations were solicited from five different carriers. Cincinnati Bell was selected as the carrier of choice. Pricing was updated and contracts were consolidated – both voice and data – for the entire network, taking full advantage of economies of scale.

“It’s a challenge any time you’re evaluating voice and data services and simultaneously considering a new, company-wide phone system that could either be hosted or on-premise,” Clayton Connor, said ATC Senior Telecom Consultant. “We’ve landed on solutions and services that position Wyler for increased efficiencies and long-term growth.”

Wyler’s new phone system scales and grows as needed, across sites or dealerships. An intuitive browser-based administrative interface gives Wyler’s IT staff the ability to easily maintain the system. What once took five people to maintain now only requires one.

“The new system is so easy to manage,” said Hoffman. “It has decreased maintenance costs by far. We have been able to get entire dealerships up and running in a half day.”
